With reaching the halfway point of the current season, Chorley Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society (CADOS) have announced the productions set to be performed at Chorley Little Theatre from September until June next year.
The six shows include a pantomime, musical, drama, comedies and a world premiere to mark 65 years since the group started performing at the venue. Last year’s productions gained 40 award nominations, with 10 winners including Best Play for Sherlock Holmes and several acting nods.
The 2016-2017 Season will open with Hamish & Dougal: You’ll Have Had Your Tea, a comedy starring characters from BBC Radio 4’s I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue. Set in a small Scottish village and packed with puns and silliness, this is the first-ever stage adaptation of the radio scripts after the Society were granted permission by writers Graeme Garden and Barry Cryer.
E Nesbitt’s much-loved novel The Railway Children is adapted for the stage in October, and this year’s Pantomime introduces a new princess – Cleopatra. Full of all the classic Panto traits, CADOS are hoping for a sixth sell-out year with this one.
2017 will open with Kindertransport in February. It is the story of a Jewish girl relocated to Manchester during World War II and the effects her new family has on her. In April the play is comedy One Man, Two Guvnors. Originally written in 1743, CADOS will be staging the National Theatre revival that recently starred James Corden in the West End.
The season rounds out with musical Our House, featuring the songs from pop group Madness and from the writer of Calendar Girls.
Season Tickets cost £39 with the plays priced between £6 and £10. More details of season are below.
