Audition Notice

Neville’s Island

Directed by Sean Duxbury

Audition Date – Sunday 28 November 11 am at Chorley Little Theatre

Production Dates – Monday 28 February – Saturday 5 March

Four out-of-condition, middle-aged businessmen sent off on a team building exercise in the Lake District succeed in being the first people ever to get shipwrecked on an island on Derwentwater. Bound in fog, menaced by wildlife and cut off from the world, their pathetic attempts to get themselves rescued are hampered by their inability to cooperate as much as by their ineptitude in the Great Outdoors What should have been a bonding process for Gordon, Angus, Roy and Neville turns into a muddy, bloody fight for survival. Because when night settles in, strange things happen out in the wilds. And what took place on Neville's Island that foggy November weekend none of this particular middle-management team would ever forget

The four characters are:

Neville, whom the others have elected Captain and who has promptly proved his unfitness for the post by leading his team confidently in the wrong direction.

Gordon, the dour malcontent whose cruel sarcasm provides many of the play’s funniest one-liners

Angus, the somewhat dim-witted loser who appears to have bought up a camping shop’s entire stock for the trip.

Roy, a born-again Christian who has recently returned to work following a prolonged breakdown – and who is heading, in the play’s considerably darker second half, for a spectacular relapse.

In addition to the audition, I will be having a read-through of Act 1 on Tuesday the 23 November at the theatre starting at 8pm.  Do not worry if you cannot come to the read-through, this is simply a way of familiarizing yourself with the play before the audition.

If anyone has any problems attending the audition or has any questions please contact Sean Duxbury on 07976 111209 or use the contact form on this website.

Thanks
